Joyful Junior Choir Festival delights packed auditorium

16 October 2024

Our auditorium was filled with the delightful sound of young voices on Tuesday 15 October as seven primary and prep school choirs took part in this year’s Junior Choir Festival. Pupils from Cumnor House School for Girls, Dolphin School, Eaton House The Manor Girls’ School, Newton Prep, Oakhyrst Grange, St Francis’ Catholic Primary and The Roche School performed brilliantly to a full house, giving expert adjudicator Hermione Ruck Keene, an extremely difficult job, when it came to choosing a winner. After careful deliberation, and detailed praise and feedback for each choir, Hermoine announced that this year’s winner was St Francis' Catholic Primary School’s choir (pictured) for a wonderful performance of The Blessing by Kari Jobe and Cody Carnes.

Earlier in the day, our visiting pupils enjoyed taking part in music workshops, as well as rehearsals for the evening performances. While our adjudicator was deliberating, singing teacher Miss Cookey-Gam, who led one of the workshops, involved everyone in the auditorium, including teachers and parents, in a communal performance of a song she had taught the pupils earlier, which was great fun for all.

Thank you to the Music Department for hosting this joyful festival.
