Classics and music combine to make a memorable evening for students

Classics and music combine to make a memorable evening for students

Dr Jessica Dixon, Head of Classics

On Wednesday 1 May, Teacher of Classics Miss Mackay, Teacher of Music Miss Wang and I took classics and music students in Years 9 to Upper Sixth to see the award-winning musical Hadestown at the Lyric Theatre in London. The rave reviews the production has received were not exaggerated and we all greatly enjoyed the fabulous performances, staging and music that beautifully brought together our departmental subjects.

Imo P W, Upper Sixth

We felt very lucky to get to see Hadestown, a musical that brings to the stage the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. It was mesmerising and left all of us feeling emotional and with the songs stuck in our heads for days afterwards. It was incredibly enjoyable to experience the tale of Orpheus rescuing Eurydice from the underworld in real time alongside some absolutely amazing music. It was especially memorable for those of us in the Upper Sixth as it was our final department trip. We could not have asked for a better time.
