Mrs Lucy Darby, Teacher of Art
On Tuesday 4 June, Year 9 art students enjoyed a two-hour print workshop with artist, and Woldingham’s art technician, Miss Emilija Pliaukstaite, who studied printmaking at Falmouth University. The workshop focused on intaglio printing, a printmaking technique that scratches, cuts, and etches the surface of a plate in order to transfer the inked image onto paper. Our Year 9 artists relished exploring a new technique, as Matilda and Jocelyn describe below.
Matilda M: The workshop was amazing. We learnt that applying different pressures to the plate creates different marks and had we had lots of fun making our own prints. Watching Miss Pliaukstaite present her own work was inspiring. This workshop taught me many new skills, which I will be able to use in my future artworks.
Jocelyn M: I enjoyed the workshop very much. It was really interesting and exciting to try new techniques.
