Miss Clare Brazier, Head of Commercial
We were delighted to once again welcome visitors from the local community to join parents, students and staff at our outdoor Christmas Market in the Quad on Friday 29 November, held in support of our bursary programme.
We had a perfect dry and crisp winter’s evening for this event, where everyone got into the festive spirit, eating, drinking and shopping to the sound of a brass trio playing Christmas tunes.
Decked with fairy lights, the Quad provided a wonderful backdrop for more than 45 traditional striped market stalls for exhibitors selling a range of goods including fashion, jewellery, gifts, accessories, home décor, award-winning pies, cheeses, wine, gin and artisan fayre. The Festive Food Court outside a floodlit Main House offered seasonal treats, such as mulled wine, hot chocolate, barista coffees, German sausages, pizzas, very cute gingerbread reindeer (see photo below) and mince pie twists.
On Friday 6 December, parents and staff enjoyed a creative afternoon at our Festive Wreath Making Workshop, another event which raised funds for our bursary programme.
The workshop was led by experienced florist Nicola Wright, who showed us how to create fantastic individually styled wreaths (see photos below) to adorn our front doors using foliage including scented pine, spruce, berries, cones, dried chillies, orange slices and ribbons.
Accompanied by traditional Christmas songs and a glass of sparkling fizz, it was the perfect relaxing afternoon to celebrate the festive season.
