Students impress with junior EPQ presentations

6 December 2024

This week, students on our Kritikos programme in Years 9 and 10 presented findings from their junior EPQ projects on topics ranging from Who have been considered the most inspiring choreographers of the 20th century? to The effect of gender on negotiation. The impressive presentations were the culmination of projects that involved extensive independent research, meetings with a subject supervisor, and the completion of an essay or artefact.

As well as gaining experience of public speaking – on this occasion in our new Sixth Form lecture theatre – undertaking a Junior EPQ has helped the students develop time management and research skills. The students’ wide-ranging interests outside the curriculum is demonstrated by the topics they chose to explore:

Lyra, Year 9 - Who have been considered the most inspiring choreographers of the 20th Century?

Nithali, Year 9 - Should free speech be limited in the UK?

Isla, Year 9 – Which sporting event had the biggest impact on gender equality?

Kayleigh, Year 9 – Social media and health

Mathilda, Year 9 – The effect of gender on negotiation

Emily, Year 10 – Are zoos ethical?

Theodora, Year 10 – Is AI sentient?

Vaish, Year 10 - An exploration of ethical clothing

Kitty, Year 10 – The effect of animals on human health

Maia, Year 10 – Should assisted dying be legalised?

Isabelle, Year 10 – How different animals respond to various stimuli
