Year 7 students enjoyed a very memorable trip to the Barbican Theatre on Thursday 16 January, where the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream brought to life a text the girls are currently studying in class. The cast included Mathew Baynton – of Horrible Histories fame – as a hilarious Bottom.

The girls enjoyed the play enormously, as their reviews show.

Elisabeth  The play was joyful, uplifting, interesting and funny. I loved how the actors portrayed their parts, especially Helena, the friend of Hermia, who had a very strong attitude. The atmosphere was amazing and it was great to see the live musicians playing in the corner.

Doris  Wow! The director definitely understands how to make an audience laugh. My favourite moment was when all the bright balls fell from the sky, covering the stage with light and colour – it was so vibrant and eye-catching. Bottom was my favourite character because of his outstanding acting skills and facial expressions.

Fatemah  A Midsummer Night's Dream was a magical, mind-boggling production. The actors were phenomenal and played their parts perfectly. The stage was beautifully decorated with bright colourful balls hanging from the ceiling.

Sarah  It was a very engaging play, with twists and turns to please everyone watching.
