Freya S, Year 10
After school on Friday 31 January, a group of keen classicists from Years 8 to 11 visited the British Museum. I really enjoyed looking at the Parthenon Galleries and learning the history behind the exhibits, as well as exploring the rooms of Greek and Roman sculpture, which were filled with majestic statues. There was also an eye-catching gold wreath with very impressive detailing. It was fun visiting the museum in the evening as there were fewer people around.
We were set a challenge during our visit to take photos on four themes: a deity, a mortal, an animal, and the smallest thing we could find. For a bonus point, we tried to replicate one of the exhibits. It was a great experience, where we learnt more about the history of the ancient world and saw almost fully intact exhibits from that time, which are rare. Thank you to Mrs Dent, Dr Dixon and Mrs Manktelow for this amazing trip!
