After a long summer break, nearly 100 girls came to school on September 1st for a day of hockey and netball coaching to get ready for the season ahead. For netball, we were lucky enough to be coached by two England netball players, Samantha Cook and Alice Travis, who focused the session on defensive movement in court as well as some basic ball skills practice (which was definitely needed after such a long period off). Being coached by such incredible players was an inspiration to us all and a real privilege at the beginning of the season. The East Grinstead Hockey Academy came to coach all year groups during the day, with a variety of stations including a timed skills test which became particularly competitive. We finished off the day with some match play where we were able to put what we had learned into practice and again get back into the swing of things for the coming season. This was a great pre-season training day and all girls from Years 7 to Uppers Sixth relished the opportunity to practise their skills to ensure that we were ready for trials when school started.
