Woldingham competed against Nonsuch School in the opening round of Hans Woyda 2017. This is a prestigious London-based Maths league of around 64 schools, named after a former teacher at Kingston Grammar School.
Nonsuch, as usual, fielded an impressive team, but were competing against our burgeoning squad, fielded from a pool of 18 dedicated attendees (every Tuesday - all welcome).
Woldingham were represented by Anthea (Y9), Gloria (Y11), Alina (L6) and Claudia (U6). The match was closely fought, with Nonsuch taking an early lead which they maintained until the penultimate round, when exceptional nerve and intellectual prowess helped Woldingham snatch a small lead. Despite the tension of the final round, Woldingham held firm and secured an historic and inaugural victory in this tough competition, winning 30/29.
Congratulations to the girls and thanks to Mrs McKenna for coordinating this. We look forward to further successes in subsequent matches.
