Last Friday, a group of Year 8 students and I took part in the Secondary Schools Pilgrimage to Arundel Cathedral. When we arrived, we parked up outside Arundel Castle, which has served as a home and has been in the ownership of the family of the Duke of Norfolk for over 400 years. We then had the privilege of taking part in the Pilgrimage Walk, which was led by the Bishop, through the Castle estate before returning for Mass in Arundel Cathedral, the Cathedral Church of Our Lady and St Philip; here the link continued as the Cathedral’s location, construction and design owe much to the Dukes of Norfolk.
The theme for the Mass was 'follow me, feed my sheep' (John 21:15-19) and the Bishop reminded all of us that we are called by name to follow the Lord and in our everyday lives our task is to 'feed the sheep' by the care and love we show to those we meet. It was a lovely day and after Mass we had the opportunity to chat with Bishop Richard and meet other staff and students from the secondary schools in the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton.
