On Monday we gathered in the School Chapel to celebrate the Upper Sixth Leavers’ Mass. The Sacred Heart Ribbon, Vienna Leung, led the procession of leavers into the Chapel, each one carrying a rose. It was an opportunity for students to gather in prayer and give thanks for the happy and joyful time they have spent at Woldingham.
The liturgy was prepared by the students and some of the Amaris choir members sang. Our Head Girl, Rachel, spoke movingly of the time the students had spent together and how they had all grown in a bond of friendship which would last for many years to come.
The reading from St Paul challenged the students to use their gifts and talents in unity and service to build up the Church and society. The Gospel reminded the students that they are called to be ‘the light of the world’ and that light must shine before others by their good works.
At the end of Mass Ms Lane presented the students with candles to remind them of the time spent at Woldingham - the ‘light of Christ’ entrusted to them in their journey of faith. The students left the Chapel to take the light into the world and, in the words of St Madeleine Sophie, ‘Be humble, be simple and bring joy to others’.
After Mass we all went to the Goddard Room for a reception. We are all grateful for everything that the Sixth Form students have done to make Woldingham a very special community. The students are very much in our thoughts and prayers as they prepare for their examinations and we ask the Lord to bless them with joy, happiness and peace in the future.
