Year 11 Brain Breakfast

Year 11 Brain Breakfast

30 January 2019

Some of our Year 11 students attended our ‘Brain Breakfast’ earlier this week. With an added bonus of a delicious full English breakfast on a chilly January morning, the aim of the event was for our girls to reflect upon some of their learning experiences and to discuss active ways they can improve their own learning and academic performance in preparation for their approaching GCSE examinations this summer. They were joined at breakfast by teachers from our Teaching and Learning Committee who discussed and advised practical ways in which they can work smarter, not harder. To help with the discussion, the girls were asked to bring two pieces of work with them: one that they had been very pleased with and one that they felt hadn’t gone as well as it could have.

One of the students, Ona, offered her reflections about the event:

“I really enjoyed the 'Brain Breakfast' today. What was particularly helpful was the fact that the advice I received, such as learning to write methodically, could be applied to a range of subjects. I really enjoyed engaging with members of staff that I don't talk to often and getting their viewpoint on how to tackle certain challenges.”
