On Monday, Year 9 celebrated a Day of Reflection at Aylesford Priory in Kent; it was an opportunity for the students to take time together as a year group to reflect on the Sacred Heart Goal for this academic year, Personal Growth. The students have shared many special experiences in their time at Woldingham and worked in pairs and in groups to encourage and affirm one another and continue their own personal growth and development, by recognising and appreciating their own unique gifts and talents which ‘light up’ our school community and beyond.
The day concluded with the celebration of Mass, which the students prepared, and they took part in the liturgy by reading from scripture and praying for others and themselves in the Bidding Prayers. It was a very positive and uplifting day which encouraged the students to inspire one another by their words and actions each day, as they continue with their own personal growth and development.
The students also each made a bookmark on which they wrote their own inspirational words; these were distributed to others as we left as a reminder of the day and the difference we can make as individuals, now and in the future. We all have the capacity of achieving so much in life and the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra which benefits the person, the school community and many others. As one of the students, Vicky, wrote on her bookmark, ‘Let your smile change the world, but don’t let the world change your smile’.
