The Year 9 German Exchange with girls from Sophie Barat School in Hamburg was a great success. As well as spending a day at school with their exchange partner and a weekend with their host families, our girls explored Hamburg – including rowing on the River Alster – and also visited Berlin and the historic city of Lübeck, which is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
In return, the following week, the girls from Sophie Barat enjoyed lessons at Woldingham and trips to London, Brighton and Royal Tunbridge Wells, before spending time with Woldingham families at the weekend.
“Our adventure to Germany involved new words, new friends and new flavours of food.”
“The best thing about the exchange was finding out about German culture with the family.”
“My family took me to Altonale Festival, a popular street festival in Hamburg, which I will remember forever.”
"Something no one will forget was climbing the bell tower of St Michael’s Church for the fabulous views of Hamburg - and Mr Ceska not letting us use the lift!”
