4 July 2019
A sunny Sports Day saw all four Houses out in force. The spirit of the day was great and all who took part should be congratulated.
There were some particularly notable performances on the track: Eleisha (Year 10, Duchesne) stormed her 80m hurdles, beating a 20-year-old school record, and flew through her 100m, leaving all opposition in her wake; Emma (Year 10, Duchesne) was astonishing in her 200m, winning incredibly comfortably and notching up more points for Duchesne; and India (Year 8, Barat) broke another 20-year-old school record as she ran the 100m in 12.06 seconds to give Barat some important points.
In the field events, Ella (Year 8, Stuart) turned in super performances to win both the javelin and the shot, while Head Girl Sarah (Barat) took the top spot in the discus. Our first Parents Relay Race was contested between parents from Years 7, 8 and 9 and saw the Year 9 team fly home after a phenomenal first leg from Mr Ako.
In our Victrix Ludorum competition, which sees all the girls competing for the title of Best Athlete against scores from the English Athletics Association, we had some excellent contenders from across the year groups. The top athlete in Year 7 was Marina (Duchesne), Year 8, Anastasia (Stuart), Year 9 Nicole (Stuart) and for the Lower Sixth, Isabel (Stuart) and Estelle (Barat) tied for the top spot. The overall winner was Eleisha (Duchesne) who won with an astonishing 69 points!
The Sports Day result was very tight for second, third and fourth places, but Duchesne were the outright winners for the third year in a row! Congratulations to all who took part.
