Onatti Productions returned to the Woldingham stage, this time to perform a play entirely in French – La Salle des Énigmes. The play’s premise was that Jérémy and Marie were to do their first ‘Escape Room’ - a game in which players are locked inside a room and given a series of riddles, puzzles and clues which they must solve to unlock the door and escape the room. It’s probably not the greatest of plot spoilers to learn that they made it – with just seconds of their allotted hour remaining. That they did so was, of course, in large part due to the enthusiastic (and very loud) participation of Woldingham’s students of French in Years 7 to 10, who confidently shouted out numbers, directions and other necessary clues. Four students, Scarlett, Lauren, Chloe and Blanca, were chosen to participate on stage, from ten times as many willing volunteers, and acquitted themselves well. Our thanks to the performers for a perfectly pitched performance that was clearly enjoyed by the audience.
