Lights, Lebenkuchenherz and language learning

10 December 2019

Year 8 girls studying German took their language skills outside the classroom in early December, as they headed to Germany’s oldest city, Trier.

Situated on the border with Luxembourg, Trier is famous for its Christmas market and this was the undoubted highlight of the trip. The girls were delighted by its beautiful lights, the carousel and the range of wares it offered.

In typical Woldingham fashion, they also expressed their appreciation of the Kinderpunsch (a non-alcoholic Christmas punch), Lebenkuchenherz (a gingerbread love heart) and the ‘yummy breakfast’!  Pleasingly, the museum and monuments also received positive reviews.
