I was thrilled to be able to sing twice at Carnegie Hall, New York, just before Christmas, having won second prize in the American Protégé International Vocal Competition earlier in the year. I gave two performances of my song, ‘Some Things Are Meant To Be’, from Little Women, firstly in the Weil Recital Hall and the following day in the American Protégé Winter Gala Concert in Zankel Hall.
I had an amazing experience, although I was very nervous as I had never sung in front of a such a huge audience before. But everyone was very supportive and I met lots of talented singers and musicians. I was very pleased that all my practising, including at least ten minutes of all my singing lessons with Miss Cookey-Gam last term, paid off.
