30 January 2020
The school ski team has just returned from competing in the annual British Schoolgirls’ Races in Flaine, France. After a full day of race training on Sunday 26 January, our six-strong team (Clara, Jessie, Francesca, Issy, Oksana and Sophie) donned their brightly coloured Woldingham race suits to compete in the giant slalom and slalom events. With ideal conditions for the giant slalom the team produced good times and Oksana (Year 8) finished a very respectable 16th in the U14 category. The weather closed in on the slalom day, with high winds and heavy snow making for tough race conditions, but again the team recorded good results. In the final combined rankings, Clara (Year 10) finished a highly creditable 35th in a very strong U16 category. The whole team had a fantastic time and all are excited to keep developing their racing skills.
