Upper Sixth Former and sport scholar Charlotte Alexander has been selected for England Athletics Youth Talent Programme. Designed to meet the needs of identified, talented English athletes, the programme aims to add value to the athlete and coach plan and help develop a broad range of skills, abilities and behaviours needed for senior success. Charlotte has also gained a prestigious sports scholarship to Birmingham University, the base of the first British Athletics Hub.
Director of Sport Mrs Caroline Treacy commented, ‘We are so incredibly proud of Charlotte’s achievements, which are testament to her years of hard work and dedication. Charlotte is keen to help others pursue their dreams and has been putting together some useful tips to support our younger scholars coming through the school. She is an incredible role model for her achievements both on the sports field and academically. We wish her the best of success in the future and I look forward to the day when she comes back as guest speaker at one of our Sports Dinners to share her sporting journey.’
Among many notable achievements, Charlotte is a two-time winner of the Mini London Marathon (at U17 & U15) and represented Team GB in the U20 World Cross Country Championships in March 2019. After a year during which she had had several injuries, Charlotte was hoping to compete at the World U20 Athletics Championships in Kenya this summer, but this has been postponed to 2021. She is currently focusing on staying fit and injury free and we look forward to seeing her back in action as soon as possible.
