This academic year Woldingham’s four Houses will fundraise for charities which focus on mental health, physical health, education and providing inclusive places for play.
Barat’s chosen charity is Mind, which provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem and campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
Digby is supporting Orbis, a global charity that brings people together to fight avoidable blindness.
Stuart will fundraise for Surrey based charity, Disability Challengers. Its mission is to provide inclusive, fun and safe places where all disabled children and young people can spend time with their friends.
Duchesne’s activities will help The Laini Saba School, Kenya, a Sacred Heart supported school in Kibera, Nairobi’s largest slum. Each year the school takes in up to 500 children, many of whom are orphans.
Each House will run its fundraising activities for one half of term, with Duchesne kicking off proceedings. Some perennial favourites, such as bake sales, aren’t currently possible, so creative thinking caps are on and we look forward to sharing fundraising news as the school year progresses.
Last year the Houses raised more than £9,000 for Harry's Giant Pledge for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, The Pituitary Foundation, United World Schools and the Laini Saba School.
