Woldingham’s wonderful tradition of each House having an annual Mass and Feast to celebrate its House Patron and enjoying getting together has, like so much, been affected by the pandemic over the past year. In the autumn term, Duchesne and Stuart began a different style of celebration in school within year group bubbles as they unable to get together as a whole House. This week, with Barat’s turn coinciding with the national lockdown, things needed to change again, but adaptations were made so that the celebration could continue, as Head of House Mrs Manktelow explains below.
The girls all came together to celebrate with their tutor groups first, with great efforts put in to making extravagant-looking teas to eat during the chat and quiz. The House Captains put together a wonderful array of quiz questions, which were hotly debated in the calls.
Mass, led by Father Gerry, was streamed live and was a beautiful service as always. While we couldn’t be together, having a whole House event did remind us of more normal times. Hopefully we will be able to have some sort of celebration in the summer so that we can celebrate properly together.
