Mrs Katie Hogben, Alumnae Officer
Upper Sixth students are being invited to apply for one of up to four Leavers’ Scholarships, worth up to £500. These are offered by the Woldingham Sacred Heart Association, known as WSHA, which represents Woldingham alumnae.
The scholarship awards can be used for gap year activities, a charitable trip or materials required for university, and must be used within one year of leaving school. Each student awarded a scholarship is invited to write an article for the following year’s Woldingham Magazine about how they put it to good use.
Recent recipients’ stories are great examples of doing just that:
Natasha took part in a Marine Conservation project in the Seychelles.
Emma used the award to study French in Paris.
The scholarship helped Maya to complete her final performance diploma for piano.
Miranda bought medical equipment and textbooks she needed to study medicine at Barts and The School of Medicine.
Georgia took Italian pronunciation lessons to help in her pursuits in opera. Since then she has had her own opera commissioned.
We will be talking to the Upper Sixth about the Leavers’ Scholarships and the application process on Tuesday 23 March and hope that many will apply.
WSHA is a global community of more than 6000 alumnae and works to keep everyone connected through networking, events, careers, our annual magazine and much more.
