Helen from the Purley Food Bank thanked students for this week’s Harvest Festival food donations at Thursday’s all-school assembly. As a result of the leadership and organisation from Community Ribbon Jemima, Helen’s car was full to the brim with donations from families across the school.
Helen told students about the work of the Purley Food Bank during COVID lockdowns last year. They turned to food deliveries for people in food need when people couldn’t collect and worked at Christmas to provide food and toys for families in Purley. She also asked students to imagine what it is like for people who will benefit from the school community’s donations.
Helen left students with heartfelt thanks with the following advice: ‘Never stop being kind and putting others before your own desires.’
