13 January 2022
Mrs Caroline Treacy, Director of Sport
Woldingham’s first competitive sporting event of 2022 on a very wet Saturday 8 January was a netball triangular with Dunottar and Reigate Grammar. We fielded teams in three age groups in less than ideal conditions. Results were mixed, with Woldingham students showcasing some superb play and excellent competitiveness. It was great to have our C teams out. I was particularly delighted with fantastic wins for our U15C and U14C teams after having many games cancelled last term.
We look forward to a very busy sports schedule this term with plenty more netball and hockey fixtures, alongside swimming galas, cross country and indoor cricket. On the extra-curricular front, we’re excited that Badminton Club starts on Friday evenings with new coach Andrew Heinemann and former GB fencer Alexander Tofalides returns to work with our fencers.
Another highlight of the term will be a talk from Sarah Bonar about her sporting career. Currently in the RAF, Sarah has performed as an elite athlete in netball, rowing and rugby. Sarah is a member of the Scotland Women rugby team and plays for Harlequins Women.
