Mrs Anna Housden, Head of History
Many congratulations to Year 11 students Hannah S and Imogen PW who were, respectively, winner and runner up in the Key Stage 4 section of the University of Exeter’s History Essay Competition.
This competition is one of a number we encourage and support students to enter. For this competition students could choose to write an essay in answer to one of the following questions:
- Are humans still evolving?
- Is gender important in history?
- Explain which periods of history students should learn about in UK schools
Hannah’s winning essay on ‘Are humans still evolving?’ is a thoughtful and interesting read. The judges at the University of Exeter were particularly impressed by her use of relevant and original examples and a clear focus on the question. You can read Hannah’s essay here.
