Molly and Desi, Upper Sixth
The Ribbons team organised Woldingham’s first ever ‘Giving Back Month’ to show our gratitude and spread joy and compassion through the school community and beyond during the notoriously miserable month of January.
Students in Years 7 and 8 are writing letters to alumnae, strengthening connections between current and past Woldingham students. Years 9,10 and 11 are hosting a series of very enjoyable coffee mornings for staff, who are being treated to homemade bakes as a token of gratitude for all they do. Last, but not least, Sixth Formers have been running donation stalls, collecting items such as toiletries and books to donate to charity, to give back to the community beyond Woldingham. A particular highlight was ‘Wold Resold’, where Lower Sixth Barat set up its own charity shop, selling pre-loved clothes to raise money for NAA10 gene charity.
It is wonderful to see how enthusiastically students are getting involved in Giving Back Month, with their beautiful handwritten letters, delicious baked goods, or creative efforts to collect donations for charity. The efforts of each student are very worthwhile. We hope this will become an annual Woldingham tradition for many Januarys to come.
