Fr Gerry Devlin, Chaplain
On Friday 18 March we were delighted to welcome Bishop Peter Price, the retired Bishop of Bath and Wells, to confirm six students in the School Chapel. Bishop Peter met with the students before the service and he was greatly inspired by their individual faith stories, which they feel will help them face all the challenges of everyday life and their commitment to being servant leaders here at Woldingham and beyond.
In his homily Bishop Peter reminded us that Jesus says in his society, "There is a new way for people to live: to show wisdom by trusting people, to handle leadership by serving, to handle people by showing love”. Bishop Peter encouraged the students to have a new attitude towards everything and everybody. To build up Jesus’ society in the world today we must think and act differently.
After the service, family, friends and sponsors gathered in the Goddard Room to meet together and chat with Bishop Peter. I would like to thank Bishop Peter for coming to Woldingham and Rev Catherine Dowland-Pillinger, the Anglican Vicar for Woldingham, who organised the preparation programme here in school and who joined us to celebrate at the service.
May I wish the students every joy and happiness as they continue their journey of faith. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.
