Woldingham’s Governors and Head are delighted to announce that Mrs Florence Corran is to join Woldingham School in September 2022 as the school’s new Senior Deputy Head. Reporting to Woldingham Head, Dr James Whitehead, Mrs Corran will deputise for him and be the senior member of staff with special responsibility for pastoral care, boarding, safeguarding, and student and staff welfare.
Florence joins Woldingham from Sherborne Girls' School in Dorset, where she is currently Director of Sixth Form, a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and a member of its senior leadership team. Florence has worked at Sherborne since 2015, combining academic and pastoral leadership responsibilities. She has a First Class degree in English Language & Literature from St Catherine’s College, Oxford and an MPhil, in Medieval Studies in English from Linacre College, Oxford. Florence is an English teacher and has taught at a range of leading independent schools including Bancroft’s School, Radley College, St Edward’s School in Oxford and King Edward’s High School for Girls in Birmingham.
Florence is married to David, who is also a deputy head, and has two daughters in their late teens.
Florence said on her appointment: ‘I am delighted to be joining Woldingham as the school celebrates its 180th anniversary next year and its exciting development plans materialise for students. I have been struck by the warmth, energy and kindness of the students and staff I have been able to meet so far. I so look forward to becoming part of the story of this vibrant, caring school.’
