Mrs Caroline Treacy, Director of Sport
Our U14 and U15 athletics teams put in some great performances at the K2 District Athletics Competition on Thursday 12 May. It was wonderful to return to this event, which hadn’t been held for two years due to COVID.
Both teams got off to a great start with Poppy (Year 10) and Waishe (Year 9) finishing 2nd and 3rd in their respective hurdle events. Other track heats saw qualifications for Imani (Year 9), Erin K (Year 9) and Keira (Year 10) in the 100m, Erin H (Year 9) in the 200m, Autumn (Year 10) in the 300m and Amie (Year 10), Lily (Year 9) and Mia (Year 8) in the 800m, as well as both relay teams.
Our field athletes also had great success with the following results:
Junior Long Jump | 1st - Lea (Year 9), 2nd - Erin H (Year 9) |
Inter Triple Jump | 4th - Phoebe (Year 10) |
Inter Javelin | 2nd - Sasha (Year 10), 8th - Anna (Year 10) |
Inter Shot | 4th - Anna (Year 10), 6th - Tegan (Year 10) |
Junior High Jump | 2nd - Chloe (Year 9) |
Inter High Jump | 4th - Marina (Year 10) |
Junior Discus | 5th Lara (Year 8), 7th - Aspen (Year 9) |
Inter Discus | 4th - Sasha (Year 10, 7th - Tara (Year 10) |
In the afternoon’s track finals the girls all did exceptionally well, with a special mention to the U14 Relay team, Chloe, Erin H, Erin K and Imani, who won convincingly to be crowned District Champions. The overall scores placed both teams in 2nd position, which is an amazing achievement.
We look forward to some of our athletes representing the District at the Surrey finals later this summer.
