Exploration of physics through music brings competition award for Isadora

29 September 2022

Mr Rahul Gupta, Teacher of Physics

Congratulations to Isadora, Year 11, on her runner up award in this year’s Eurekas. Run by the Institute of Physics, the competition is for students aged 11-16 in the UK and Ireland. Its aim is to get students to think about physics differently and explore how it can be related to everyday phenomena. This year’s question was What is the point of physics?

Isadora entered because she wanted to share the significance of physics through music to stimulate people’s interest in the subject. Members of the science department enjoyed listening to her spectacular composition about the uses and dangers of electromagnetic waves. Isadora plans to spend her cash prize on some physics books, such as Six Easy Pieces, or A Brief History of Time, to learn more about the universe.
