Upper Sixth students making Oxbridge applications gave talks on their specialist subjects to Kritikos students in Years 7-11 after school on Friday 7 October. Not only was this useful practice for the applicants, both of presentation skills and fielding the many resultant questions from their audience, it also exposed the Kritikos students to new areas of academic interest. Each chose three presentations to watch from a fascinating and varied list, which included: How German literature influenced German society in the 20th Century; Does the creation of AI make humanity God?; Halogens, similar but dangerous?; and Trickle down economics and the danger of inflation.
Kritikos students are now researching aspects of the presentations they found particularly interesting. They will meet with the Oxbridge applicants again after half term for some in-depth discussion.
