On Wednesday 16 November, Lower Sixth students travelled to London, where they were taken on a further journey to the frontiers of biology at the Biology in Action conference.
Chaired by science journalist and presenter Greg Foot, a series of interactive talks from experts in their field covered weighty and stimulating topics including The Future of Food; Astrobiology – The Hunt for Alien Life; and Untangling Huntingdon’s Disease. The students also enjoyed a session, tailored for biologists, which offered plenty of hints and tips for revision and examination success.
Our Sixth Formers found the day valuable and thought-provoking:
Ovieya "I really enjoyed learning about the many ways biology can be used, such as in food production and the future of meat, and discovering the huge impact it can have."
Kornelia "The lecture on how to stop a heart attack was really interesting. I found hearing about real life cases helped me think about my future career choices."
