Rain doesn’t stop play

Mrs Caroline Treacy, Director of Sport

The wet weather of recent days and weeks has not deterred students from putting everything into their sporting endeavours.

Cross country runners in Years 7 and 8 represented Woldingham extremely well at the District Cross Country meet on Tuesday 8 November. The Year 7 team (pictured below) took an excellent 2nd place overall, with sport scholars Daisy L and Kayleigh O coming 2nd and 11th respectively. Our cross country runners will be back in action again on Friday 18 November at the Junior Knole Run.

There was a very tightly-contested home game for our 1st XI this week as the team took on Pangbourne College in the England Hockey Tier 3 Cup Competition. Ella K, Lower Sixth, scored our equaliser to bring the score to 1-1 at full time. This meant the game went to flicks and, sadly, Pangbourne took the win to progress to the next round. However, there is more competition ahead for the 1st XI to look forward to as the team takes on Worth School in the next round of the Independent Schools Plate Competition. The 2nd XI team has also been working hard and reaping rewards, including a recent 4-0 win against KCS Wimbledon.

On the netball courts, some superb play from our U14A team (main picture) this half term has seen them finish 2nd in the District Cup. This bodes really well as the team starts its District league fixtures next week.

Protected from the inclement weather, cricketers in all year groups have been enthusiastically taking part in Mr Ladd-Gibbon's early morning practise sessions in our indoor nets. They will be well prepared for the 2023 summer cricket season.
