Musicians take audience ‘walking in the air’ at wonderful winter concert

2 December 2022

Wonderful music marked the arrival of winter at last night's concert. Although Thursday 1 December didn’t bring snow, it did bring perennial film favourite, The Snowman, accompanied by a beautiful live performance of Howard Blake’s score by our Scholars’ Ensemble and guest musicians, and Year 7 singing the magical Walking in the Air.

The first half of the concert was a feast of music from our choirs, orchestras and ensembles that included Flutissimo playing a piece by Fauré and our Senior Choir’s performance of Adele’s Someone Like You. The audience was also transported back to summer, with Siesta Dance from our Percussion Ensemble and the Chamber Orchestra’s joyous rendition of The Girl from Ipanema, before we returned to the winter theme just ahead of the interval with a lovely performance of Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride by the Symphony Orchestra.

Thank you to all our Woldingham musicians, guest musicians, including students from Tonbridge School, the Music Department, our visiting music teachers who prepared students so well, and everyone else involved in bringing together such an impressive and highly enjoyable evening of music.
