Students have a reeling good time in celebration of Burns Night

26 January 2023

On Wednesday 25 January, students celebrated Burns Night with back-to-back ceilidhs in Main House, dancing to music from the fabulous KingsFolk band.  First on the floor were Mardeners, who, with much excitement, learnt the OXO Reel and Strip the Willow among other Scottish dances. Next up were Year 9 students, who were joined by some Year 11 and Lower Sixth boarders. They threw themselves into Sausage Factory, Buttered Peas and the Flying Scotsman – nicknames for some of the most famous Scottish reels.  Andy, the wonderful caller, was extremely patient and made sure all the sets mastered each dance, so everyone could really enjoy the fun. It was a fabulous evening of Scottish music, dancing and merriment to celebrate the anniversary of Robert Burns’ birth.
