Drama double bill offers beauty, a beast, and excellent advice for defeating zombies

7 February 2023

An audience of parents, staff and boarders enjoyed a drama double bill on Monday 6 February.

First to take the stage were members of our popular extra-curricular Key Stage 3 Drama Club, performing scenes from Beauty and the Beast, directed by Drama Ribbon Emma H. With the leading roles played by different students in each scene, all of the 29-strong cast had their moment in the spotlight, with everyone coming together in the ensemble pieces – the rendition of Be Our Guest was a particular highlight and well-choreographed for the large number of performers involved.

After the interval, our drama and performing arts scholars had – and gave – a lot of fun with 10 Ways To Survive The Zombie Apocalypse. In a series of well-acted and very amusing scenes, interspersed with links from our excellent narrators, Year 11s Katie C, Mia M, Anna M and Poppy W, our scholars demonstrated how tactics such as reason, romance and running really fast could help us escape from zombies, should the need arise.

At the end of the evening, Assistant Director of Drama, Mr Neil O’Gorman, who directed the scholars’ piece, explained how much it meant to all the performers to have an audience to enjoy the fruits of their labours, saying, “Thank you for your support, which makes it for them.”
