Congratulations to Nithali P in Year 7, Erezi E and Clarice N in Year 9 and Year 10 students Lilico U, Jovie W and Sophie T for their excellent entries to this year’s Poetry by Heart competition.
Poetry by Heart is a national poetry speaking competition for schools and colleges in England, founded by poet Sir Andrew Motion and educator Dr Julie Blake. The aim of Poetry By Heart is to develop students’ confidence with poetry in an enjoyable, accessible and engaging way.
To take part, the students chose poems they love, learnt them by heart and performed them earlier this week at lunchtime sessions, which were recorded for judging purposes. A panel of expert judges will select students to perform their poems and meet top UK poets at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in June.
