Miss Siobhan Campbell, Head of Art
Lower Sixth artists delved into portraiture painting during an intensive workshop with our Artist in Residence, Eilise Lancaster, which encompassed all their art lessons over a period of two weeks.
Drawing inspiration from the work of William-Adolphe Bouguereau, who perfected colour with each layer, the workshop focused on painting in layers, starting with an underpainting and gradually building up the image with thin glazes of colour.
The workshop made a strong impression on our students. "This workshop was quite challenging and took us out of our comfort zone." "The workshop allowed us to be independent whilst being able to rely on Eilise's expertise". I'm sure you will agree from the main photo and the gallery below that it also made a strong impression on their work - the outcomes are astounding.
