Music scholars Fiona, Isabel and Lilico selected for Saturday study at world-famous conservatoires

Ms Rachel Ives, Assistant Director of Music

We are extremely proud of music scholars Fiona R, Isabel L and Lilico U, who have gained places to study on Saturdays at the Junior Departments of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music.

Lilico, Year 10, so impressed the panel at the Royal College of Music with her inherent musicality at her recent violin audition, she was instantly offered a place at the Saturday conservatoire from September.  Isabel, Lower Sixth and Fiona, Year 10 won places to study at the Royal Academy of Music. Bassoonist Fiona has already started attending the prestigious Saturday conservatoire. Isabel will start in September. Well known at Woldingham for her virtuosity on violin and piano, Isabel’s instrument at the Royal Academy of Music will be the organ. Last month, Isabel attended a very prestigious two-day organ scholarship event at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, where she spent time with the Chapel music faculty learning what was required to be an organ scholar. Isabel, who is our Music Ribbon this year, hopes to study music at Trinity Hall after Woldingham.

Being only a short train journey from Woldingham means students can attend these world-famous conservatoires in London on Saturdays. We are delighted at our students’ fantastic achievements and look forward to watching them flourish musically.
