Our drama and performing arts scholars and students taking LAMDA* lessons in school performed a smorgasbord of treats at the Summer Drama Showcase on Tuesday 27 June. The audience enjoyed a range of delights including a pair of – very physically – warring Ugly Sisters, verbal duelling between mother and daughter in an excerpt from 19th century play A Family Affair by Alexander Ostrovsky, a recitation of David Walliam’s Fing, and a performance of Ex-Wives from the musical Six. Students also turned their own hand to scriptwriting and character creation through several devised pieces, as well as choreographing a contemporary dance routine.
As well entertaining the audience, as part of the Wold Fringe Festival, the students’ creativity, confidence and commitment to their craft was clear for all to see.
