Sixth Form students interested in the creative arts received valuable advice and guidance from Emma Dodson, illustrator and senior lecturer at the University of Westminster at a talk organised by the Art Society on Wednesday 13 September.

As well as describing the various courses available at Westminster, covering fine arts, graphic design, contemporary media studies, fashion design, and illustration, Emma shared an academic perspective on how to stand out in the competitive art and design world, reflecting on her own experiences within it. Emma’s guidance on creating a portfolio that truly reflects one's artistic voice was especially valuable.

Emma also discussed the transition period from A Levels to a foundation programme, emphasising its importance before beginning higher education in the creative field.

Emma’s visit inspired all who attended the talk as we take the next steps towards our futures.
