Students ask all the right questions at International Universities Fair

With increasing numbers of  Woldingham students making applications to international universities each year – 10% and rising – and leavers securing excellent places on a diverse range of courses, often winning substantial scholarships, including to Ivy League universities in the US, we welcomed representatives from a selection of international universities to Woldingham on Monday 18 September.

The International Universities Fair, with stalls from universities in the US, Spain, Switzerland, Canada, Dubai, France and Singapore, amongst others, was keenly attended by students in Years 10 to Upper Sixth. Students had plenty of questions about the application process, entry requirements, student life, funding and employment prospects. They were excited to hear about the flexibility and scope of many of the degree programmes, which are so different to the UK university system. Students also benefited from general guidance and inspiration from ‘The University Guys’, global university applications specialists.

There was a real buzz at the fair. Many students said this was the first time they had really considered studying abroad but had found themselves falling in love with the idea. The university representatives were very impressed with the students’ attitude and openness to international study and fed back that they had ‘asked all the right questions’.

We will shortly arrange a follow-up event for students and families to learn more about overseas study, with the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the timeline and process for applications.
