Sixth Form artists use meditative practice techniques and explore study opportunities in one of Europe’s art capitals

Teacher of Art Mrs Monica Wraith was quick to put in practice ideas from a recent workshop at Tate Britain, London on how meditative practice can develop students’ emotional, intellectual and social wellbeing.  In a lesson with Lower Sixth art students, based upon meditation, stillness and art practice, the class explored how reflective meditation influenced the work of American abstract artist Mark Rothko before producing their own work (pictured) using reflective practice, colour and emotion response.

In a portfolio workshop, run by the Paris College of Art, A Level art students had the opportunity to discuss their individual projects and receive tailored portfolio advice for their university applications. They also explored the possibilities of studying in one of Europe's art capitals, learning about the degree courses the College offers, as well as other opportunities and advice on career paths, including a two-week summer course in July, open to students aged 16 and over.
