In preparation for this week’s mocks and upcoming A Level exams, just before half term Upper Sixth students Alison, Annie and Heidi saw their A Level Spanish text brought to life at the Cervantes Theatre in London. The students, accompanied by Mrs Nollet and Miss De La Cruz, enjoyed a dramatic performance of Lorca’s play “La Casa de Bernarda Alba”, which explored themes of repression, passion and conformity through the depiction of a matriarch’s domination of her five daughters.
Head Girl Alison found the trip valuable, explaining: “The actors’ dialogue was really clear and the scenes were very intense. Seeing the play live was definitely helpful for my revision as I was able to pick out some useful quotes and, as a visual learner, it was a great way of strengthening my memory of the scenes."
